ittt:
An intelligent person does not need the promise of heaven to see the merit of good deeds.
i am waiting for slumber
to be lifted from the world
for eyes to open wide
and i am waiting for
comprehension to finally dawn
and for the ambien-induced sleep to cease
and i am waiting for the
realizations to set in
and i am waiting for us to see that
the desolate, cracked visage in front of us
is the crooked, crooked way
that things have been for millennia
and will be yet for millennia to come
and i am waiting for somebody
to decry these events
and i am waiting for
the halls to echo
only with a parting footstep
as cobwebs cling in
silence
i am waiting for
the waters of the gulf to consume
and i am waiting for katrina
to drink her fill
and then drink some more
and i am waiting for
the blessèd aid to come
and i am waiting for it
to never arrive and reach the shores
of the ravaged poor
but to stop, halt expectedly
before the destination
as intentions never turn into actions
and i am waiting for her to strike finally
for the world to murmur at the horror
and to pledge to send aid to help
and i am waiting for the world
to steal children from their cradles
and i am waiting for voiced concerns
to die unspoken on lips
i am waiting for the apple to be picked
from the tree within the gates
and i am waiting
for it to fall and startle newton
and i am waiting for the pureness of
scientific discovery
to be poisoned
and i am waiting for snow white
to take the apple
from the ill-disguised witch
and i am waiting for her to bite into it
for then the princess will plunge
desperately into a deep sleep
and i am waiting for the
prince to arrive on his steed
to place a single kiss and awaken her
back into the land of the living
and i am waiting for the prince
to never saddle his mount and leave the castle
i am waiting for
my knights in shining silver armor
to deliver the world
from this darkness
of poverty and abject horror
and i am waiting for
the clacking of
the underground railroad
to rescue us from slavery
reminiscent of ages past
but yet still very modern
and very present
the unspoken truth that
is shameful and hidden by the news
and i am waiting for
rabid sale-shoppers to raise up the courage and destroy the monsters of consumerism
that have managed
to destroy the bonds of family in the west
and that have exploited workers
under the excuse of business
everywhere else
and i am waiting on generals
to halt the warfare and genocide
of the third world that ravage the ones
who can afford it least
and i am waiting
for my knights to stay in camelot
the tracks to lie silent and broken
the shoppers to stay blissfully ignorant
and the generals to keep on waging war
and i am waiting for the status quo
to be maintained
and the boat to row merrily along
i am waiting for politicians
who pontificate
on the hows for change to happen
to set action to their words
and i am waiting for
the radicals and anarchists
who promise revolution
to either provide it
or shut up
and i am waiting for the millionaire
who builds some schools
to get together with other millionaires
and actually fix something
that will stay
and i am waiting
for politicians to keep with empty promises
the radicals to just rail
and the millionaires to just compete
and i am waiting for the powerful
to keep on with their power
soaring higher and higher
as the rest of the world
become ants out of the airplane window
smaller and smaller and insignificant
until we are out of sight
and out of mind
and yet, i am still waiting
patiently at first
and then with annoyance and frustration
and then anger
for the things that i wish with all my heart
that will happen and dawn upon us
and i am waiting for the inevitable sadness
that will inhabit us forevermore
i am waiting, most of all, for the world
to find a voice that will proclaim
that this is unacceptable
and that we will not settle
and i am waiting for us to declare that
we will not stand by
when exploitation occurs
and i am waiting for people to push away
the veil that obscures the truth
so that we may gaze upon its veracity
unbridled and unafraid to face it
and ready to confront our fears
in order to change our world
and i am waiting for
us to take a stand
on something
anything
to explain to others that we care
and i am waiting for nothing to come
out of this of all
and i am waiting
for more already-broken oaths to be sworn
and more empty promises to be made
and i am waiting
for more wars to be fought
and more people to be oppressed
and i am waiting for the inexorable
entanglement of ourselves
in the sticky web that we have
woven for ourselves
and i am waiting for us to flail and thrash
and to scream until our lungs are empty
to try in vain to extricate ourselves
and i am waiting for nothing because i know
and everything because i dare to hope
I am waiting.
pull your shit together and stop doing this to my friends.
this? this is why I can’t reconcile a god and this. this is why.
sometimes, i don’t know what it is i’m doing anymore.
Afghan War apparently needs tanks now, for some reason
The Afghan War’s been going on for nine years. Know what it’s been missing all this time? That’s right. Tanks. The Afghan War is finally getting its first tanks. About freaking time, if you ask someone who knows nothing about military policy (or why it’s necessary to take on terrorists with something this big), but just thinks tanks are awesome. source
Oh my god adorable. Our defense money at work. Because apparently they’re essential now, but this didn’t occur to anybody before.
